About Us
FROM THE GROUND
TO YOUR CUP
A small-batch coffee project built on quality and loyalty.
Meet Hazul
Hazul is more than just the name of this coffee company. She's a Siberian Husky with a blue-eyed stare that stops people mid-sentence and a coat that ends up on every black shirt within a five-mile radius.
My friends and family joke that her hair is everywhere, and honestly, that's my favorite part. She leaves her mark on everyone she meets, whether they want it or not.
That's the same energy we're building here. We're after a coffee that becomes part of your routine, the same way Hazul became part of mine.
How It Started
I got into coffee during COVID just like half the world. French press first, then AeroPress, then a Gaggia Classic, finally the E61 dream machine that's still on my counter. Each step pulled me deeper and deeper, and deeper. I like to say I'm done, but we all know that's a lie.
Once travel reopened, wherever I went, I found coffee. I'd track down roasters and cafes in every city and stuff my bag full of beans trying to find that perfect daily sip.
Eventually I realized I didn't just want to find a roaster I trusted. I wanted to build one. A place where people know they're getting great quality no matter what they order.
For the Huskies
A portion of every Hazul purchase goes to husky rescue organizations. It's a small thing, but it matters.
Funny enough, Hazul was our first husky but not our only. My girlfriend and I found a puppy on the side of the road. We took him in, named him Astro. It was gut wrenching to come to the conclusion that we didn't have a big enough place to house both huskies, so we found him a great home in Colorado. The website's built on Astro too, a coincidence that brought them back together.
The Setup
We roast on a Skywalker V1, a 1kg electric drum roaster. It's not a production machine, and that's the point. Every batch gets our full attention from charge to drop. We log every roast, cup regularly, and adjust based on what we taste.
For a small roaster, that's not a limitation. It's the whole reason we do this.
Good coffee doesn’t need a story; good coffee tells a story.
